Metal Workshop London
Our metal workshop stands at the heart of our bespoke furniture fabrication services. Equipped with advanced technology and tools, we are recognised as one of the top metal manufacturing companies in the city. Our facility features CNC plasma cutters, lathes, laser cutting machines, and other essential metalworking tools, ensuring the precision and quality necessary for creating luxurious and bespoke metal pieces. As one of the top metal work fabricators in the UK, we deliver high-end craftsmanship, especially in the realm of luxury metal furniture and architectural metalwork.
Comprehensive Metalworking Processes
Our metal fabrication in London covers a broad spectrum of processes to transform raw materials into elegant, finished pieces. Below are the core steps we take to produce exceptional quality:
1. Cutting and Shaping
Cutting is an essential step in our fabrication process. Using laser cutting and CNC plasma cutters, we shape materials like stainless steel, aluminium, mild steel, and brass. These technologies allow us to create intricate designs with precise detail. For more straightforward applications, we also utilise circular saws for cutting steel tubing and sheet metal, ensuring accurate results every time. We also employ sheet metal fabrication tools, such as forming, shearing, and rolling machines, to craft various formats from tubing to sheet metal.
2. Lathe Operations
Our metal workshops are equipped with meticulously maintained lathes for machining hard materials such as steel and brass. Our skilled craftsmen work with these tools to achieve precision, ensuring that each metal component matches the design specifications perfectly. We use this process for making metallic structures, delicate frames, and other intricate parts required for bespoke architectural metalwork.
3. Welding Expertise
Welding is a vital part of our custom metal work process. Our team of london based metalworkers is proficient in multiple techniques, including Manual Metal Arc (Stick), MIG, and TIG welding. These methods allow us to join metals using fusion, forming strong and seamless joints. Depending on the piece's requirements, we use butt joints, full penetration joints, or fillet joints, ensuring structural integrity and aesthetics. For delicate furniture fabrication, our welds are meticulously polished to create a refined, seamless appearance.
4. Polishing and Finishing
Polishing is a crucial stage in our metalworking process, ensuring each piece meets our high standards for luxury finishes. Our craftsmen employ various abrasive processes, including abrasive blasting, to prepare the metal surface. This method is followed by multiple stages of polishing to achieve mirror-like finishes, particularly for polished stainless steel and polished brass. This meticulous polishing method reveals the true beauty of the metal and prepares it for the final finishes.
Variety of Metals
At Make Bespoke Studio, we work with a wide variety of metals to provide flexibility and customisation for our clients. Our selection includes:
Stainless Steel: A durable option suitable for both interior and exterior applications, ensuring longevity.
Aluminium: Lightweight yet strong, aluminium is perfect for custom steel manufacturing, especially in decorative objects and functional pieces.
Brass: Our specialist brass work includes various finishes, from natural polished brass to aged brass patinas, providing luxurious aesthetics.
Copper: A timeless metal often used for custom metal work, adding warmth and character to designs.
Mild Steel: An adaptable and cost-effective material, suitable for both structural and decorative applications.
Luxury Metal Furniture Finishes
We provide a comprehensive range of metal furniture finishes that cater to bespoke needs. Our luxury metal finishes are carefully curated to add elegance and sophistication to each piece, using techniques and processes designed to meet high standards:
1. Polished Finishes
Polishing stainless steel and brass to a mirror finish is one of our specialities. The process involves several stages of sanding and buffing to achieve an immaculate surface, showcasing the true beauty of metals like polished brass and stainless steel.
2. Brass Finishes: From Polished to Aged
Brass is a timeless and luxurious material, known for its warm, golden tones and versatility in finishes. We offer a range of brass finishes, from high-polished to aged and blackened, allowing designers to select the perfect aesthetic for their projects.
3. Blackened Steel Finish
Blackened steel is a sophisticated and versatile option for furniture and architectural elements. The process involves treating the steel surface with chemicals or heat to create a deep, rich, blackened patina. The result is a matte or slightly reflective surface that highlights the raw, industrial look of the steel while providing a protective layer that enhances durability.
4. PVD Coating
For an innovative and durable finish, we offer PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating on stainless steel. This advanced technique allows us to achieve a wide range of colours and textures, including brass-like finishes that are a cost-saving alternative when real brass is specified.
5. Powder Coating and Lacquering
We provide powder coating services for stainless and mild steel components, offering limitless possibilities in colour through RAL specifications. Lacquered raw mild steel is also available, providing a sleek, durable finish while maintaining its raw aesthetic.
6. Liquid Metal Finishes
Our collaboration with artisanal specialists allows us to offer liquid metal finishes, applied directly in the workshops. These finishes add a unique touch of artistry and ensure that each piece is one-of-a-kind, making our metalwork highly desirable for discerning designers and architects.

Metal Finishing
The application of a finish or texture happens once the constructed components are complete and assembled. We offer a complete range of luxury metal finishes ranging from a highly polished brass through to a more textured hammered bronze. Brass finishing is one of our specialities and we are able to offer a full spectrum of tones, from a natural polished brass through to a dark oxidised brass. We can also vary the sheen, from highly polished, through to satin and brushed finishes. A highly durable PVD (physical vapour deposition) finish can be applied, in house, to stainless steel components, either in polished or brushed textures, with a wide range of colours to choose from. For example, a brass colour can be achieved using this technique which can offer a cost saving when real brass is specified, but over budget. We also offer powder coated stainless steel and mild steel finishes and can use any RAL colour for this process without limitations on colour. Our liquid metal finishes are achieved by using the services of artisanal specialists who take delivery of the components, or furniture pieces, and apply the selected finish directly in their workshop prior to delivery.
